Why Regular Oil Changes Are Essential for Your Ford

Keeping up with regular oil changes is one of the simplest yet most crucial aspects of vehicle maintenance. Whether you're driving through Knoxville's city streets or exploring the scenic routes of Tennessee, the right oil ensures your Ford performs at its best. At Gary Yeomans Ford Knoxville, we offer a range of oil service specials to keep your engine running smoothly. The Importance of Regular Oil Changes Lubrication: The primary function of motor oil is to lubricate the moving parts of your engine, reducing friction and preventing wear and tear. Without sufficient lubrication, your engine components can overheat and cause serious damage. Cooling: In addition to reducing friction, motor oil helps to cool the engine by carrying heat away from the combustion chamber. Over time, oil breaks down and becomes less effective at performing this function, which is why regular oil changes are critical. Cleaning: Motor oil also acts as a cleaning agent, trapping dirt, debris, and metal particles that accumulate in the engine. If not changed regularly, the oil can become saturated with contaminants, leading to sludge build-up and reduced engine efficiency. Improving Fuel Efficiency: Fresh oil reduces friction, which can improve your engine’s fuel efficiency. This means better mileage and savings at the pump, something every Knoxville driver can appreciate. Different Types of Oil for Your Ford Choosing the right oil is essential for maintaining your Ford's engine. Here’s a quick overview of the different types: Conventional Oil: Suitable for most everyday driving conditions, conventional oil is the most common type used in Ford vehicles. It’s ideal for moderate temperatures and regular driving habits. Synthetic Oil: Designed for high-performance engines, synthetic oil offers superior protection and can withstand extreme temperatures. It's an excellent choice for drivers who frequently tow or haul heavy loads. Synthetic Blend Oil: A mix of synthetic and conventional oils, synthetic blend offers better performance than conventional oil at a lower cost than full synthetic. It’s a great middle-ground for those looking for enhanced engine protection. High-Mileage Oil: Specifically formulated for vehicles with over 75,000 miles, high-mileage oil helps reduce leaks, oil consumption, and emissions in older engines. What’s the Best Oil for Your Ford? For most Ford vehicles, synthetic blend oil is often recommended, providing a good balance of performance and cost. However, depending on your driving habits and the specific needs of your vehicle, full synthetic or high-mileage oil might be the better choice. To ensure you're using the best oil for your Ford, visit our service center at Gary Yeomans Ford Knoxville. Our knowledgeable technicians can recommend the ideal oil type for your vehicle, keeping it running smoothly for years to come. Don't forget to check out our latest oil service specials to save on your next oil change.

Is It Time to Replace Your Tires? A Guide for Knoxville Drivers

Tires are your vehicle's only point of contact with the road, making them crucial to your safety and performance. But how do you know when it's time to replace your tires? At Gary Yeomans Ford Knoxville, we're here to help you understand the signs of tire wear and the importance of regular tire checks. Plus, we have great tire specials running right now to make your tire replacement more affordable. Signs It’s Time to Replace Your Tires Tread Wear: The tread on your tires should never fall below 1/16 of an inch. An easy way to check this is by using the penny test: insert a penny into the tire tread with Lincoln's head facing down. If you can see the top of Lincoln’s head, it’s time for new tires. Cracks and Bulges: Over time, your tires may develop cracks in the sidewalls or even bulges due to impact damage. These are signs that the tire structure is compromised and should be replaced immediately. Vibrations While Driving: If you notice unusual vibrations while driving, it could be a sign that your tires are unevenly worn or misaligned, both of which can require tire replacement. Age of the Tires: Even if your tires appear to be in good shape, they should be replaced every six years regardless of mileage. Rubber deteriorates over time, which can lead to unsafe driving conditions. Why Regular Tire Maintenance Matters Maintaining your tires ensures better fuel efficiency, smoother rides, and, most importantly, safety on Knoxville’s diverse road conditions. Regular tire rotations, alignments, and pressure checks help extend the life of your tires and improve your vehicle's overall performance. Why Do Your Ford's Headlights Turn Off While Driving?

Headlights are a crucial safety feature of any vehicle, providing illumination for the driver during low-light conditions, such as nighttime driving or in adverse weather. However, encountering issues where your Ford's headlights turn off while you're driving can be frustrating and dangerous. At Lance Cunningham Ford in Knoxville, we've observed this concern among many of our customers, prompting us to delve deeper into the possible causes and solutions to this problem. Understanding the underlying reasons behind your Ford's headlights turning off unexpectedly is the first step toward resolving the issue effectively. There are several potential culprits to consider: Faulty Alternator: The alternator plays a vital role in charging the battery and supplying power to various electrical components of the vehicle, including the headlights. If the alternator fails or isn't functioning correctly, it may not provide the required charge to keep the headlights on consistently. Dead Battery: While the battery doesn't directly power the headlights while the vehicle is in motion, a weak or dying battery can strain the alternator more. This increased load may lead to dimming or intermittent operation of the headlights. Loose or Corroded Connections: The electrical connections between the headlights and the main wiring harness are critical for maintaining a steady flow of electricity. If these connections become loose or damaged over time, it can disrupt the power supply to the headlights, causing them to turn off unexpectedly. Failed Headlight Switch: Inside the headlight switch are small contacts that can wear out over time. When these contacts degrade, they may intermittently lose continuity, resulting in the headlights turning off while driving. Blown Fuse: Like other electrical circuits in the vehicle, the headlights are protected by a fuse. A short circuit or electrical overload can cause the fuse to blow, cutting off power to the headlights. Recognizing the symptoms of headlights turning off while driving can help diagnose the issue more accurately. These symptoms may include: Dimming Headlights: The headlights may appear noticeably dimmer before turning off completely. Flickering Headlights: The headlights may flicker or blink intermittently before shutting off. Electrical Component Issues: In some cases, problems with other electrical components, such as the radio or power windows, may coincide with the headlights turning off. If you find yourself experiencing this issue with your Ford, there are several steps you can take to address it: Check the Alternator: Verify that the alternator is functioning correctly and providing the appropriate charge to the battery and electrical system. If necessary, have it tested or replaced by a qualified technician. Inspect the Battery: Ensure the battery is in good condition and has a sufficient charge. If the battery is weak or failing, it may need to be replaced to prevent further electrical issues. Examine Electrical Connections: Inspect the connections between the headlights and the wiring harness for any signs of looseness, corrosion, or damage. Clean and tighten connections as needed to restore proper electrical flow. Replace the Headlight Switch: If the headlight switch is suspected to be faulty, consider replacing it with a new one to restore the reliable operation of the headlights. Check the Fuse: Inspect the fuse dedicated to the headlights for any signs of damage or discoloration. If the fuse has blown, replace it with a new one of the appropriate rating to restore power to the headlights. conclusion while encountering issues with your Ford's headlights turning off while driving can be alarming, understanding the potential causes and taking proactive measures can help resolve the issue effectively. Regular maintenance and inspections of your vehicle's electrical system are essential for preventing such problems. If you're unsure about diagnosing or addressing the issue on your own, don't hesitate to seek assistance from a professional technician. Remember, your and your passengers' safety is paramount, so ensure that your vehicle's headlights are always in proper working condition. At Lance Cunningham Ford, we're committed to assisting you with any automotive concerns, so feel free to contact our team for support and guidance.

What is An Electric Charger? An EV charging station, also known as an electric vehicle charger or EVSE (electric vehicle supply equipment), is a device that connects to an electrical outlet and supplies electricity to charge up your electric car. It can be installed either at home or in public locations. The type of EV charging station you need depends on the make and model of your car, so it's important to consult with an expert before installing one. The most popular types of EV chargers are AC Level 1 and 2 chargers, which provide power from 110V - 240V outlets. They're usually used for overnight charges at home or work and can take several hours to fully charge depending on how low your battery is. DC fast chargers use higher voltage power sources such as 480V three-phase power and offer faster charging times than other kinds of chargers; however, they require a more complicated installation process due to their high energy level requirements. As the market for EVs continues to grow, so does the demand for efficient charging infrastructure. Charging ports come in various shapes, sizes, and connection types—so it's essential to understand what will work best for your particular needs before selecting one. Knowing all these details ahead of time can help ensure that you get the right type of ev charger installation for optimal performance when powering up your ride! Benefits Of EV Charging Stations There are many benefits of installing electric vehicle (EV) charging stations. First, it provides convenience to those who own electric cars such as Teslas or other brands that require an EV charger for their vehicles. An EV charger is a device used to recharge the battery of an electric car and allows users to charge when they need to without needing to wait in line at a public charging station. This means drivers can plug in their EVs quickly and efficiently while also avoiding having to go out of their way to access one. Second, installing EV charging stations can help reduce emissions from gas-powered vehicles by encouraging people to switch over to more eco-friendly options like hybrid or all-electric vehicles. This will contribute positively towards reducing air pollution caused by burning fossil fuels which has been linked with health problems such as asthma and lung cancer. Additionally, providing charging infrastructure makes driving longer distances easier since Tesla Superchargers have become increasingly available across the nation and make traveling between cities much simpler than before. Browse electric vehicle Inventory in Knoxville. Finally, using EV chargers helps save money on fuel costs since electricity is often cheaper than gasoline or diesel fuel when purchased through renewable sources like solar energy. This could result in significant savings for businesses operating fleets of electric cars, allowing them to stretch their budget further and maximize profits over time. Furthermore, some states offer incentives for businesses that install EV charging stations which may offset costs associated with purchasing the equipment itself or any installation fees charged by professionals hired for this purpose. All in all, there are numerous advantages of investing in EV chargers for both individuals and companies alike ranging from increased convenience, reduced environmental impacts, cost savings, and potential government subsidies - making it a smart choice overall. Types Of Electric Vehicle Chargers The electric vehicle charging station is a symbol of the future, one that we are beginning to witness today. At its core, it is an effective and efficient way for EV owners to charge their vehicles with minimal fuss and cost. Although there are many different types of EV charging stations available on the market, they can generally be divided into three main categories: fast charging, standard charging, and home-based charging. Fast Charging: These chargers provide higher power output than other types of chargers, allowing your car’s battery to reach 80% capacity in around 30 minutes. This type of charger typically requires a special cord length that ranges from 20 ft - 50 ft depending on the make and model of your electric vehicle. Standard Charging As opposed to fast charging, this type offers slower but more consistent charge times which usually take up to 6 hours or more depending on how depleted the battery was when you began charging it. The cords used for these chargers range from 8ft - 25ft depending on your car's compatibility specifications. Home-Based Charging This option provides the most convenience as it allows you to install an EV charger either indoors or outdoors at your residence so that you can easily plug in whenever necessary without having to worry about finding public outlets or long extension cords. Some residential models may not offer as much power as commercial versions but will still get the job done if you just plan on using them infrequently or want something cheap and easy to install yourself. It is important to consider all these factors before deciding what kind of EV charger best suits your needs because each has its own advantages and disadvantages. In order to maximize efficiency while also saving money over time, researching all available options thoroughly is essential before making any purchase decisions. Components Of Electric Vehicle Chargers Having discussed the various types of EV Charging Stations, let us now take a look at the components that make up an electric vehicle (EV) charger. An EV charger can be broken down into three key elements: battery capacity, charging network and licensed electrician. Battery Capacity The amount of energy stored in an automobile's battery or power source for powering its motor. It is measured in kilowatt-hours (kWh). Charging Network A system composed of hardware and software solutions that enable users to access public charging stations for their EVs. This includes payment systems, operational monitoring, load balancing and other features. Licensed Electrician An individual who holds a valid license from the local government to install electrical equipment according to safety protocols set by authorities. They are responsible for connecting your residential or commercial property to the grid so you can charge your car safely and efficiently. It is important that these components work together harmoniously in order to ensure efficient performance while keeping safety as top priority. When selecting an EV charging station, it is essential to consider all aspects such as compatibility with existing infrastructure, size of batteries supported and pricing structure offered by each manufacturer before making any purchase decisions. Additionally, when installing a new one at home or commercially, enlisting the services of a qualified professional will help guarantee trouble free operations throughout its lifetime. Making sure that all components of an EV charging station are properly installed and running correctly will maximize your enjoyment out of owning an electric vehicle while ensuring maximum safety standards have been met at all times. With proper maintenance and regular inspections conducted by certified technicians you can enjoy years of reliable service from your investment in an EV charger! Finding A Public Electric Vehicle Chargers Finding a public EV charging station is key for many electric vehicle (EV) drivers. With the growing popularity of EVs in recent years, it’s no surprise that more and more people are looking to join the EV revolution. But with all this enthusiasm comes an often overlooked issue – installation costs. Installing an EV charging station isn't as simple as plugging something into your wall outlet; it requires professional licensing and expertise from an experienced licensed electrician. This means you'll need to research local professionals who can help you set up your station safely and securely so you can start charging right away. Browse electric vehicle Inventory in Knoxville. Fortunately, there are several resources available online that provide EV drivers guidance on how to find the best contractor for your needs, including reviews, ratings, prices, and more. It's important to remember that having access to a quality charger could save you time and money over the long run, so take the time to do some research before committing to any particular contractor or service provider. Cost To Install An EV Charging Port: The cost of installing an EV charging station will vary depending on the type and complexity of the installation. This can include such factors as the need to upgrade an electrical panel, the capabilities of your home’s wiring system, and what type of charger you would like to install. On average, however, a typical residential level 2 unit can range from $500-$2,000 for hardware alone; labor costs may be extra. Installation costs are worth it in the long-run: EV drivers save money by not relying on fossil fuels, plus they benefit from government incentives that encourage uptake in more than a decade’s effort to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. The global market value is expected to reach over 32 billion dollars by 2027 - so investing now could pay off well into the future! EV charging stations provide convenience and peace of mind when out and about while driving electric vehicles. With proper research and planning ahead of time, anyone looking to switch their car to electric power can make informed decisions regarding the right types of chargers for them - without breaking their budget. How Does An Electric Vehicle Charger Work? Electric vehicles (EVs) have become the wave of the future, and most EV drivers are eager to know just how an EV charging station works. To put it plainly, a charging station is essentially like a gas pump, but for electricity instead of fuel. With this in mind, let's explore further what goes into powering up your electric vehicle at an EV charging station. Essentially, all EVs come with their own corded charger that connects to a power source - either from home or from a public charging point. This cord will be plugged into the car's port to start the flow of electricity between the two points. After that, it'll take about 30 minutes for most EVs to reach full charge on Level 2 chargers; however, some may take longer depending on how depleted their battery is. On top of this connection process, many modern EV charging stations also include integrated payment systems so that users can pay for their energy usage directly through their phone or credit card without having to leave the comfort of their car. They even offer subscription-based services which allow customers to pre-pay for multiple charges at once over a given period of time - making recharging convenient and hassle free. It's no wonder why more and more people are turning towards EVs as they provide both convenience and cost savings compared to traditional gas powered cars. As we continue down this road toward sustainability and green living, understanding how these new technologies work is essential if you want to make sure your electric vehicle stays charged up! How To Operate An EV Charging Station Operating an EV Charging Station is not complicated, but there are a few important steps you should follow. First, it's important to read all the instructions and safety warnings before using a charging station. This includes ensuring that the cable connecting the car to the station isn't damaged or frayed in any way. Once you've done this, check if your vehicle has been pre-registered with the charger or if you need to register beforehand. If so, make sure to set up payment information ahead of time as well. Next, connect your electric vehicle (EV) to the charging station by plugging one end into your car’s outlet and another into the charger itself. Depending on what type of charging station it is, it may take some time for your battery to begin receiving power from the station – don’t worry though; once it does start charging, most stations will automatically switch off when full charge has been reached. Finally, be aware of any local laws regarding public use of charging stations and ensure that no other vehicles are obstructing access. Always remember to disconnect properly when finished – never leave an EV connected overnight or unattended during its charge cycle! Safety Tips For Using An EV Charging Station Now that we know how to operate an EV charging station, the next step is making sure it's safe. After all, a sparking outlet or malfunctioning charger could be hazardous. Fortunately, there are ways to ensure your safety when using one of these stations. First and foremost, you should always inspect the area around the charging port for any hazards before plugging in your vehicle. This includes checking for water puddles, frayed wires, and other potential problems. Additionally, you should make sure no combustible materials such as gasoline or oil are nearby the charging station so they don't catch fire if sparks occur during operation. Here are some additional tips to help keep you safe while using an EV charging station: Read instructions: Before doing anything else at the station, read all instructions carefully. Make sure you understand everything printed on labels near the port as well as any signs posted by the manufacturer or owner of the facility where the charge point is located. Be aware of environment: Always pay attention to your surroundings when at a charging station and watch out for people who may not be familiar with its operations or dangers posed by electricity. Be aware of anyone approaching too close to the unit and make sure children stay away from it altogether. Avoid contact with metal components: Remember not to touch any exposed metal parts on either side of the cable connector when connecting/disconnecting cables – this can cause electric shock! If needed use insulated gloves or tools instead. Finally, never leave your car unattended while it’s plugged into an EV charger; supervise it closely at all times and unplug once it’s done charging up safely. The Future Of EV Charging Stations The future of EV charging stations is looking brighter than ever. This is due to a combination of factors, including the increasing popularity of electric vehicles and advancements in technology. As more people purchase EVs, there will be an increased demand for charging infrastructure. In response to this demand, manufacturers are developing new solutions that can provide faster and more efficient charging times. In addition, companies are utilizing cutting-edge technologies such as artificial intelligence (AI) to improve their products. AI has enabled smart chargers to anticipate usage patterns, optimize electricity consumption levels and detect system faults in order to maximize efficiency. For example, one company has developed an AI-powered charger which can predict when customers will need a charge and adjust its output accordingly to ensure a smooth transition between different energy sources. As technological innovations continue to emerge, it's likely that EV charging stations will become increasingly commonplace in our daily lives. The availability of these devices will make it easier for drivers to keep their cars powered up while on the go and help reduce our dependence on fossil fuels. Ultimately, this could lead to reduced emissions and improved air quality around the world – something we can all benefit from! Different Payment Options Available At An Ev Charging Station Exploring the world of electric vehicle (EV) charging stations can be quite daunting. It's important to understand all the payment options available when you are getting ready to charge your car. Here is a quick breakdown of some of the different methods: Credit Card - Pay with any major credit card at most EV charging stations. You will usually need to provide identification and sign off on the transaction. Debit Card - Most EV charging stations accept debit cards for payment, but it may depend on the specific station which types they accept. Make sure you have enough funds in your account before attempting to pay this way! Cash - Some charging stations still allow cash payments, though it’s becoming increasingly rare due to security concerns. If opting for this method, make sure that you bring exact change as many do not offer refunds or make changes. Mobile App - Several mobile apps now exist allowing drivers to locate and even reserve an EV charger ahead of time; these typically require linking a bank account or credit/debit card so that payment can be securely processed after each session ends. This shows just how much technological advancement has been made regarding EVs - there are now multiple ways to pay depending on what kind of convenience works best for you! Whether it's paying by cash if you don't mind carrying around coins and bills, using a credit or debit card if you're looking for instant gratification, or downloading an app if you want complete control over where and when you'll be able to charge up your vehicle - knowing about these various payment options will ensure that your next trip in your electric car goes as smoothly as possible! Conclusion In conclusion, EV charging stations are an essential part of a green future. They provide convenience and flexibility for electric vehicle owners, allowing them to charge their vehicles anywhere and anytime. With the variety of types available, from home-based charging stations to public ones, there is sure to be one that fits your needs and budget. While using an EV charging station can come with some challenges, such as needing different payment methods or troubleshooting common issues, the benefits greatly outweigh any potential drawbacks. What is Enhanced Active Park Assist?

Whether you think parking is easy for you or not, you may not ever have to worry about it again if you get a vehicle with Enhanced Active Park Assist by Ford. This feature is only a few years old but it is something that has been a game changer. Within the system are exterior cameras and ultrasonic sensors to assist with perpendicular parking as well as parallel parking. How Does it Work? No matter the parking space, this system can help you fit right in. Through the use of the cameras, it can effectively help you back up into a parking space or even parallel park. While it is not yet fully automatic, it likely will be one day. For now, as the driver you will still need to take some action but the system will help guide you along the way. As soon as the system is engaged and there is a space large enough for the vehicle, it can maneuver the vehicle into the space. The driver still needs to provide braking and some minor shifts. However, with this system, you will never have to worry about hitting a vehicle while parking again. It is also a very accurate system so you do not have to worry about side swipes or even curb rash. The system is designed to park within 5.9 inches from a curb and it does so without damaging the sides of your vehicle. Using it to Parallel Park To activate the system, you will need to push a button on the dash. Once you have done thing, you can pull forward slowly until the perfect sized parking spot has been found. The system will notify you when it is time to stop so the system can then take over the guides to get you in the space. Remember, you are still responsible for applying the brakes so how fast or slow you go is up to you. Using it to Perpendicular Park Unless you live in the city, you likely will not parallel park very often but you will perpendicular park. This is also the way you will use the system to back into a parking space. To start this, you will need to press the park assist button twice. Then, you will need to slowly drive by the parking spot so the system has the chance to recognize it. At that point, you will stop and follow the prompts that the system provides. Again, you will have to control the speed by using the brake. Once you are in the spot, you can move the gear selector into Park. It can take some time getting used to a system like this but it will help you park with better accuracy that you would on your own. It is also a safer option for your vehicle. Over time, you will get more and more used to it and will be thankful for how much it allows you to better protect your vehicle.

Internet Integrations Ford Outfits 2010-2016 Vehicles With WiFi & More

From phones to tablets to major city maps, a growing number of technologies provide direct access to the Internet. It seems only natural that cars would join the club. Ford had already planned to include WiFi in several of its 2018 vehicles, but recently announced that drivers of older models can integrate the Internet into those cars as well. This integration, which applies to most of the company's cars and trucks made between 2010 and 2016, will allow drivers and passengers to use multiple devices on the road. SmartLink Savvy Ford’s new system, called SmartLink, will provide the vehicle with access to a 4G LTE network from Verizon. This connection will be able to support up to eight devices at a time, allowing the driver and passengers to stay fully plugged in during most outings. In addition to the Internet, SmartLink offers a number of other connections to improve the health and convenience of the vehicle. Drivers can use it to locate their Fords in parking lots, access comprehensive reports on the vehicle’s mechanical needs, and schedule maintenance and upgrade services. They will also be able to lock, unlock, and start their integrated vehicles remotely, as well as set boundaries and speed limits if someone else is driving. Drivers can access these services from their smartphones or through an online portal. Installing the SmartLink system involves plugging it in to the Ford’s OBD II port. Drivers can have this done at their local Ford or Lincoln dealership. The technology will become available this summer; specific dates and price points have not yet been announced. Setting Up For Sync 3 The development of SmartLink is occurring in tandem with Sync 3, a similar network that will be available on select 2018 Fords. SmartLink will accommodate Ford users who are not willing to wait that long, or who do not want to trade in their current vehicles just to have WiFi access. There will, however, be some advantages for drivers who wait for Sync 3, notably that the network will be able to support 10 devices instead of just 8. Sync 3 will also use a 4G LTE network from AT&T rather than Verizon. LTE Limitations Although the SmartLink connection will be available on most Ford and Lincoln cars and trucks made from 2010 to 2016, there are certain exceptions. The new technology will not work with vehicles that already have modems, which include: Ford Focus Electric vehicles made between 2012 and 2016 Ford C-Max Energi vehicles made from 2013 to 2016 Ford Fusion Energi vehicles released from 2013 to 2016 2015 and 2016 versions of the Lincoln MKC that have the Black Label or Reverse packages Lincoln MKX vehicles that have the Black Label or Reverse packages and were released in 2016 If your vehicle is eligible for SmartLink, Lance Cunningham Ford will be happy to install it. What's the difference between a 4x4 and 4x2 Ford-150?

If you’re browsing around for an F-150 though, you may notice these are sized differently. For example, there’s the 4x2 F-150 and the 4x4 F-150. What’s the difference? Is one better than the other? We’re here to explain. Handling Using the 2017 F-150 XLT as an example, the handling varies depending on if you drive the 4x2 or 4x4 truck. With the 4x2, handling comes standard, with trailer sway control, power-rack-and-pinion steering, coil and front springs, a fully-boxed frame, Electronic Shift-On-the-Fly, and front and axle independent suspension. The 4x4 includes a trailer brake controller, Hill Descent Control, Electronic-Looking Rear Differential, axle upgrades, and Neutral Towing Capability. Overall, the 4x4 is the better option for handling. Tires The tires also differ from the 4x2 to the 4x4. The 4x2 F-150 includes 265/60 R20 BSW all-season tires or 275/55 R20 BSW all-season tires. As for the 4x4, choose from all-terrain tires like the 265/60 R18 BSW, 275/55 R20 OWL, and LT275/65 R18C OWL. Exterior Features If you get the new 4x4 F-150, you have more exterior options. Besides a chrome grille surround, halogen and fog lamps, black mesh grille inserts, Easy Fuel capless fuel filters, a tailgate with power locks, and manual folding side mirrors, 4x4 drivers can also select skid plates and up to two front towing hooks. Those who get the 4x2 F-150 cannot get these plates or hooks added to their vehicle. Package Features If you are considering purchasing a 2017 F-150 XLT, you can also choose from various packages that make this truck an even smarter buying decision. You can spruce up the looks of your F-150 with the Sport Appearance Package, Special Edition Package, and Chrome Appearance Package. You can also pick some other cool add-ons, like trailer towing, heavy-duty payload, Telogis’ Ford Telematics, propane gaseous engine prep, and a 2.7 L V6 EcoBoost payload. However, only 4x4 F-150 drivers can add snow plow prep for inclement weather and the FX4 Off-Road Package for support no matter where the road takes you. The 2017 4x2 F-150 is eligible for all but the last two packages. That still makes it a good value, although not as good as the 4x4. Overall, while both the 4x2 and 4x4 are great options when shopping for an F-150, you get more choices in handling, exterior features, and package features if you choose the 4x4 model. Whether you’ve decided the 4x2 F-150 or 4x4 F-150 is best for your needs, you can test drive both and plenty of other Ford models at Gary Yeomans Ford Knoxville in Knoxville.
